Plastic jalaneti pots, also known as neti pots, are commonly used for nasal irrigation, a practice known as nasal lavage or nasal douching.
Here’s how you can use a plastic jalaneti pot:
- Prepare the solution: Mix 1 tsp non-iodized salt with 2 cups lukewarm distilled water.
- Fill the pot: Fill jalaneti pot with saline solution; it typically has a spout.
- Position yourself: Stand over a sink or in the shower, tilting your head slightly forward.
- Insert the spout: Insert the spout of the jalaneti pot into one nostril.
- Pour the solution: Pour saline into one nostril, let it flow out the other. Breathe through mouth.
- Switch nostrils: switch to the other nostril and repeat the process.
- Repeat if necessary: Repeat process with fresh saline if congested or mucus persists.
